Book a Royalty and Westminster walk with a private London guide
On a Royalty and Westminster walk we uncover a royal London – palaces and guards, parks and gardens. Depending on the time of year we may see part of the ceremony of the Changing of the Guard in front of Buckingham Palace. This is a royal London walk which combines London history and great views of famous London landmarks.
We can meet at Westminster to learn about Parliament and how Big Ben got its name. From here we can see Westminster Abbey to talk about the great events that have happened here – coronations, funerals and weddings. Then a stroll through St James’ Park to Buckingham Palace. On the way enjoying one of London’s finest Royal parks with great photo opportunities of views over the lake.
When scheduled the splendid ceremony of the Changing of the Guard takes place here. And look for the clues to see if the Queen is at home. A walk along the ceremonial road known as the Mall to view the oldest Palace in London. Then to Horseguards Parade where the Queen celebrates her birthday every year in June. Say hello to the horses and members of the Household Cavalry on duty in Whitehall before trying to catch sight of the Prime Minister at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Downing Street.
We finish at Trafalgar Square to learn about Admiral’s Nelson’s naval victory and admire the fantastic lions at the base of his column. At the edge of Trafalgar Square we find the National Gallery. An incredible free collection of art. We can do these things in any order and we can combine with a visit to Westminster Abbey or a highlight tour of the National Gallery.
